(20 hour course)

This course meets the State of Ohio qualifications to carry a pistol, commercially, as an armed security officer.  The class exceeds the hours necessary and required for Concealed Handgun License (also known as CHL formerly known as CCW-concealed carry weapon)

 


8-30-18 - (6 hours)-class: 4:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

8-31-18 - (6 hours)-class:  4:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

9-2-18 (8 hours) - Firing Range & class:  8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.


                                                                                      

   4 HOUR REQUAL:   


9-2-18 - Noon - 4:00 p.m.
 
This course meets the State of Ohio qualifications for a person that has previously completed the 20  hour Basic Firearms course.

SHOT GUN: 

8-19-18 - 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.


IMPACT MUNITIONS:

8-19-18 - 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Brentley offers the extra 12 hours the Cleveland requires if a student is to carry, while on duty, a 9mm semi auto weapon

TEST QUESTIONS FOR 20 hour/4 hour requal (please study them before you come to class)

  1. list the reasons for the use of deadly force:
    1. Defending myself
    2. Defending someone else as long as they have the legal right to defend themselves
  2. List the considerations Officers should take in any use of for situation
    1. Someone would get hurt if force is not used
    2. Actions were necessary
    3. Actions were reasonable
    4. Actions followed employer training and policy
    5. There was no other choice but to use force
  3. Identify the four primary safety rules
    1. All Firearms are loaded
    2. Do NOT point a Firearm at anything you do not want to shoot or destroy
    3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you have made the choice to shot
    4. Beware of your backstop and beyond
