Study Guide for the Firearms Written Test
1. List the reasons for the use of deadly force:
a. Defending myself.
b. Defending someone else as long as they have the legal right to defend themselves.
2. List the considerations Officers should take in any use of force situation:
a. Someone would get hurt if force is not used.
b. Actions were necessary.
c. Actions were reasonable.
d. Actions followed employer training and policy.
e. There was no other choice but to use force.
3. Identify the four primary firearm safety rules:
a. Treat All Firearms as if they are loaded.
b. Never let the muzzel cross anything that you are not willing to destroy.
c. Keep your finger off the trigger and indexed along the firearm’s frame
until you your sights are on the target and the target is to be engaged.
d. Be aware of your target, around it, and beyond.
20 Hour Qualification Class (Revolver and Semi-Automatic)
This course meets the State of Ohio qualifications to carry a pistol, commercially, as an armed security officer. The class exceeds the hours necessary and required for Concealed Handgun License (also known as CHL formerly known as CCW-concealed carry weapon)
All students must have a face mask due to COVID-19 requirments until further notice
4 Hour Re-Qualification Class
(Revolver, Semi-Automatic & Shotgun)
This course meets the State of Ohio qualifications for a person that has previously completed the 20 hour Basic Firearms course.
***ALL STUDENTS FOR THE RE-QUALIFICATION CLASS MUST BRING A COPY OF THEIR CURRENT (UNEXPIRED) FIREARMS CERTIFICATE
All students must have a face mask due to COVID-19 requirments until further notice
***Concealed Carry Weapon Classes***
Brentley offers the extra 12 hours the Cleveland requires if a student is to carry, while on duty, a 9mm semi auto weapon
If needed, Brentley will issue a “32” hour certificate*
